elec calc BIM: new features in 2022 that simplify BIM electrical design

Trace Software has just launched the new version of elec calc ™ BIM, a software for sizing electrical installations in an open BIM collaborative process with the possibility to exchange information through a digital model.

The evolutions of this new version are mainly focused on the recovery of data from a Revit® digital model. Many professionals use Revit® for the design of electrical installations. The Revit® plugin, integrated in elec calc™ BIM, takes automatically into account the communication between elec calc™ calculation engine and Revit® model.

With this new version, Trace Software has gone further in the developments to simplify and increase the productivity of installations design.

Creating circuit from Revit®

With elec calc™ BIM, it is possible to retrieve all the circuits from the electrical system browser and assign them to their switchboard in the IFC explorer. Thanks to this functionality, it is no longer necessary to perform a double data entry. The user can save time in the design and the risk of errors is reduced.

At the end of the study, it is possible to synchronise all the circuits completed in elec calc™ BIM from the plugin with Revit®

 

Creation of circuits from spaces in the model

It is now possible to generate circuits from the spaces in the digital model. An interface allows the maximum number of receivers per circuit to be configured. The user then selects the spaces in the viewer. Simple and fast.

 

Wire tracing in Revit®

elec calc™ BIM plugin for Revit® now allows to retrieve the connection details and automatically generates the wires with labels to complete the electrical working drawing directly in Revit.

 

Creating cut sections in the viewer

The viewer allows to generate sections and to store them in a specific view. These sections, which can be consulted at any time, make it possible to isolate parts of the building for a better visualization and a better location of the premises. In addition, optimizations in the viewer facilitate navigation.

 

Optimisation of cable routing

The routing algorithm has been optimized to automatically route cables in the majority of cases, thus reducing manual creations.

elec calc™ BIM users are automatically notified from their software of the availability of this new version.
